Captain Bryan Smither.jpg

Meet Bryan

Bryan, of South African descent, embodies calm, cool confidence — a captain who leads with quiet strength and steady hands. With a no‑drama, up‑for‑anything attitude and endless perseverance, he creates safe, relaxed, unforgettable experiences on the water.

A true waterman, Bryan wears many hats — yoga and surf instructor, breath‑work facilitator, and dive instructor,  — yet his proudest title is Captain. His passion for the sea and for exploring new horizons began skippering around the Aliwal Shoals on South Africa’s east coast and has grown into a career dedicated to sharing ocean adventures with like-minded guests.

Whether you’re here to dive, surf, stretch, or simply soak up the view, Bryan brings expert seamanship, calm leadership, and warm hospitality to every charter.

Guest Comments

"We had such an amazing time in the BVI's on 54 ft Bali catamaran with Captain James Cotter and chef Phee! | had sailed on the Oceana with my family of 5 in late July and had to go back again with friends! The attention to detail to customize our week to meet our needs was off the charts fabulous! Sailing, fishing, snorkeling, swimming, sea scootering, paddle boarding, dining, fabulous drinks, great wines, Cab ride with Sweet Willie T, Coca Maya dancing, lobsters in Anegada, hiking, the baths, beautiful sunsets.... Everyone had the best time and agrees it's the only way to vacation!! Can't wait to do it again!" February 2025
